春先に耳を澄ますと
どこからか、
すこし不器用な鳥の鳴き声が
聞こえてくることがあります。
In early spring,
if you listen closely,
you can sometimes hear a slightly clumsy bird call
drifting from somewhere nearby.
生まれたばかりの小鳥が、
自分の鳴き方を見つけるために
試行錯誤している鳴き声。
それを、日本語では
「ぐぜり」と呼ぶそうです。
It's the sound of a young bird finding its way —
trying and stumbling toward its own voice.
In Japanese, this is called "guzeri."
やがてどんな鳥も、
自分の歌声を見つけて
きれいに鳴くようになります。
In time, every bird finds its song
and begins to sing.
But it's the time before — the "guzeri" —
that I find somehow very endearing.
でもその前の「ぐぜり」の時間が、
なんとも愛おしいなと思うのです。
まだうまく形が決まらない声色。
ふと、自分はそういうものに
惹かれるのだと気づきました。
A voice not yet fully formed.
I realized, quite suddenly,
that I am drawn to things like that.
すこし不思議な響きかもしれませんが、
その「ぐぜり」という言葉を
会社の名前に掲げてみました。
It may be an unusual name,
but I chose the word "guzeri"
as the name of this company.
言葉にならない声や、
まだ遠くへ届いていない歌声を、
今より少しだけ大切に思えるように。
そんなものづくりを目指しています。
For voices that haven't yet become words,
and songs that haven't yet reached far —
I want to create things that hold them
just a little more tenderly.
